Cutting outter part in Tunze Stream

Hi~

But I want to ask same question in tunze forum...

I love wide water flow in powerhead...so...

If I cut the swollen part of tunze stream (outter part),

I can expect wider water flow in standard tunze stream?

Any side effect?

Some people have told me that this widens the flow but I doubt there is that much effect. If you want to widen the flow the best option is to replace the cover with the wider cover of a 6201- 6200.13. The flow will be wider but with a much shorter reach.

7thheaven, by cutting the intake screen on your 6100 or 6101 may help with more water intake, possibility stronger flow, easy maintenance but definitely not wider flow unless you change to larger nozzle i.e the 6201-6200.13.

I have done two type of Mod on the Tunze stream 6101.

1. Cut the intake screen for easy maintenance, more water intake, less possibility for blockage due to coraline algae or hair algae.

2. Cut the directional cross (X figure), i don't think its a good idea to mod this way. Because i notice my flow is all over the place with a very short reach.

I have 80cm cube tank so In Current my system, far going just make sand storm.

Changing 6201- 6200.13 cover is best choice?

Vince, you have seen my tank picture before . I'm Steve (Spur2). I think you have the same cube tank as my old 240g. I remember you PM asking me about the way i mount my tunze stream. I will post some picture tonight when i get home. The tunze 6200.13 cover will help reduce the distance and and improve the spread in your cube tank.

BTW, here is the picture of my Tunze 6200 with the intake screen mod. Hope it help

All 4 streams has been mod. Yes, i cut them myself with the Boston Aqua Farms Stony Coral Cutters from MD. Here is the link.
