Cuz's 300g mixed reef

Very nice tank. CAn you shed a little more light on your system in general? I for one would like to know what all equipment youre using and what your overall approach is to reefing. You use any carbon source or is it the BB and low fish load that you rely on to keep nutrients in check? Any pics of the sump and inside cabinetry? Come on man spill the beans on this sweet setup!

Lol, My aproach is simple, I'm Lazy!! lol I just kind of let things be unless a problem is spotted.
I'll grab a sump pic next time i have the camera out, Its really nothing special at all. Vertex in280 skimmer, 2 return pumps, and a prolifux 4 head doser. I dose the 3 main elements and the fourth hose sits in a bottle of vodka!!lol
Being bare bottom i think leads to better housekeeping just because you can see the debris sitting there so it almost guilts you into cleaning it. My fish load isn't really on low low side imo.

kole tang
yellow tang
regal tang
naso tang
orange shoulder tang
purple tang
achilles tang
mata tang
blue throat trigger
copperband butterfly
yellow coris wrasse
leopard wrasse
lawnmower blenny
pink spotted shrimp goby
2 clowns

* most fish are adults

Thanks

Would love to see an update to this thread. On previous photos I noticed some brown algae on the rocks (maybe diatoms), have the tank passed the algae stage? How is the barebottom working out?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think i can ever go back to substrate, I really like being able to pump the flow around as well it lets me do tank cleaning alot easier. There was a slight diatom outbreak on a few new pieces of base rock i added awhile back, all cleared up now tho!!

Congratulations on your beautiful reef.
What kind of lights are you using?

Thanks,

The lighting is 6-250w halides with 14k pheonix bulbs and 10 54w T-5's, They seem to do all right. I'm doing the never ending led debate right now to try and lighten up my power bill tho!!

What? No way! Why?

lol...well long story short...she wanted to buy a new house, I refused solely based on my tank and not wanting to lose everything!! So she gave my the green light for a new tank with fishroom!!! hehehe

Get possesion of the new house April 20th and possesion of the new tank in two weeks!!!!:celeb1:
