Cyanide

Can anyone describe what the effects of cyanide, or other collecting poisons, might look like in affected fish? I've had several fish die (all from the same LFS) with no apparent effects on the other inhabitants of my reef tank. Symptoms of the fish that died were more behavioral, ie: erratic swimming, dark splotches or loss of color, or just acting weird.

They eat like normal and then one day drop dead. No real way to know if it was cyanide or not. Ask your local fish store where the fish came from (wholesaler and where they were collected)

+1^^^. So far I done had 3 Flame Angels die for no reason. Were eating real well (soon as I got them). About 2-3 weeks later, just died for no apparent reason. No signs of parasite or illness.

They should actually eat more than normal, cyanide causes the metabolism to go berserk from what I remember reading, erratic swimming, weight loss and paranoid behaviour can be signs of of it too.

Cyanide caught fish will lose weight despite eating well. This is due to the liver damage a cyanide overdose will cause.

What the OP describes sounds more like something else.
