Cyano

What's the best way to get rid of this? I'm maxed out on my budget for the MONTH, so... What can I do? I've only got a little bit but I'm sure by the time February gets here, it could be over-taking everything...

I think Cyano is what it is, it's growing on the sand, a pinkish color, and on ONE rock, that is more darker color and slimy looking...

Lights out option won't work, as I do have a couple of corals in there, just some shrooms and some star polyps, green and pink...

Anyone give me some ideas?

why wont lights out work i turn my lights out for day my corals love it .....and works great to get a handle on PIA algeas

bennyd, isn't your setup a newer setup? i think most new tanks will get cyno for a period of time. all three of my setups had it when i first got started

Alright, just wanting to double and triple check, being new i'm still a little paranoid about things....

Hell I honestly don't even like touching the rock or any of the corals lol.

Red slime remover....it does the trick....one dose....turn off your skimmer or it will really foam....after two days...vaccuum it up and turn on your skimmer....will skim like crazy for a day....life is good again...

Suck it up when you do a water change. Quick and easy way to get rid of it. Just don't suck up to much sand from the bed. Like others above, water changes, feed less and less light. I would how off on the chemicals for now.

I have a maxi-jet 1200, modded with the sure flow kit blowing 2100gph in a 55g... I am pretty sure i have enough flow, lol i assume anyways, I also have an emperor 400, an aquaclear 110, and an aquac remora running.
