Cycling Tank - Fritz Turbo start???

I'm not to sure about chemicals, but with already cured live rock you should be speeding things up. Try and get some live sand from someone, maybe a cups worth. I've also read about putting a piece of raw shrimp in the tank, but have never tried it myself.

Leave a piece of rock out of the tank for a couple hours, the little bit of die off would start a cycle, for free.

Bio spira ? I think is the name of this stuff. It is bactieria on steroids. Suppost to work wonders. Was told to me that you could put an emperor angel the same time you added this stuff and were suppost to have evough bactieria in the tank to sustain the cycle. I would still wait until it cycles naturaly. patients pays off and prevents alot of tears. Speak from expierience, the live rock would be agood startt along wtih the live sand.
Good luck.

Put a shrimp in there for a few days. I did that and it worked for me. Just be careful when you take out the shrimp. It will break apart on you, if you are not careful about grabbing it.

I always wondered about these products myself simply because if it is to be "live" bacteria but we all know it is probably shipped without much care how does the temperature changes affect it. Think about it..sitting out in a truck in 20 below weather not sure anything would survive. Thinking slow and careful is the way to go no matter how hard it is.

Hey bro if it's worth the drive for you,I'll give you 1/2 of a five gallon bucket of live sand out of my tank. Its been in my tank for almost a 10yrs,so it should do the trick for ya.I'm going bare bottom (fish tank)

Thanks everyone. I'm going bare bottom too. I put a piece of dead shrimp in and will let nature take its course.
