cyclop eeze for sps?

i do and they seem to like it i usually sprinkle a little in the sump as it is flowing through so it is wet enough to sink by time it hits DT and stuff goes crazy when it hits the DT. What brand are you using?

I use the freeze dried, and they seem to like it. I just started using reef roids, and it is like powder. Very fine particles, and the corals seem to like it a lot. I had never heard of it before, but the reviews online are very positive. A container will last forever as well.

Denadai, where are you getting reef chili now???? I can't find it anywhere online.

When I feed my tank it's a mix of Formula 1 and 2 PE mysis for the fish critters with frozen cyclopeeze, oyster feast, and Coral Frenzy mixed in to make a soup that I hope is appealing to the corals. They look good so I going to continue that regimen.

Cyclopeeze is too large for SPS to feed on. You would be better off with smaller micron foods such as Rotifers or Oyster Feast.

As said, it is too large for most sps, although I've had plenty of acros and other large polyps take it in alright. But if it's not eaten, like any other food, the nutrients will still be used.

It's to big they will capture it but most can't digest it. It's kind of like ur teasing ur sps they want it but can't eat it!

What are you basing this on? You don't think cylclops breaks down into smaller pieces in salt water? You don't think the anemone inside our sps (aka it's polyps) can invert it's stomach like other anemones in order to dissolve parts of it?

I've heard alot of people say this, but I don't quite follow where the logic comes from. It's an organic compound. It will dissolve, and get smaller in our water column. IMOP if they can catch it.. they can derive nutrients from it. Can they eat the whole chunk maybe not, can the nibble on the end. I don't see why not.

^+1. Providing a mixed variety is always best for sps to try and meet their needs in any cases. I feed several different foods that target my sps. My mixed food has, Rods food, mysis, brine, plankton small krill looking kind, zooplankton, cyclopeez, baby brine. I feed this daily along with Liquid Life Coral Plankton and AAs 2-3 times a week.
