Done 3 water changes. Syphon out cyno. Keeps coming back worse each time. Anyone have a good solution?

Should I use one of the chemicals available? I hate putting stuff in my tank, but I can't seem to cure issue.

How much light, flow, etc? How often and how much do you feed?

I would avoid the chemicals if at all possible.

Moved to NTTH for more views.

The chemicals have been known to crash tanks, and usually are a temporary fix, at best. I'd at least siphon out as much cyanobacteria as possible before dosing. That'll limit the decay in the tank.

More flow often helps. Nutrient control is another approach. This article has a lot of ideas, although it's written in terms of a nitrate problem:

Using a GFO media like PhosBan or RowaPhos is another common idea.

i had that problem too but my tank is pretty young so i regard it as a normal course. now mine is under control. i guess my 3" sand bed is finally getting a bit mature perhaps.

i found active carbon and phosguard help a lot. am i wrong?

PhosGuard might help, although I think a GFO like PhosBan is safer than an aluminum-based product. There's an article in the chemistry forum if you're interested in details. Carbon won't do much since its absorption capacity is small and it only binds organic compounds.
