BTW... NITRATE IS HOLDING STEADY AT 3-5 PPM THIS MORNING.
What you say, Richard? Time for PART II yet?
I think many would have just thrown in the towel
Towels everywhere.
Yupper!
And to add to your info a bit....there is no traditional 'cycle' like you read about on the internet with LFS rock, as what I send you is alive and happy.....that with the combination of REAL live sand, not something from a bag, in combination make for a painless set up of a reef tank. I always tell folks be ready to make water changes if the ammonia goes over 1ppm when installing part one....but very rarely does that happen, 99% of my customers report no water changes at all with Part one of the package, and thus it should be when you are using real live rock and sand shipped underwater....there is no die off and you start your tank in a happy state from the get go.
Understandably this is in total contrast to everything you read about getting live rock and having to cure it and cycle the tanks for months, but it is as it should be when using real live rock and sand. If somebody wants to sell you live rock that is days in transit, shipped in wet paper towels or whatever....it is not "live Rock" when it gets to you....it is dead and dying rock, hence all the curing and hassle that goes with that type of rock.
The way to set up a reef tank is just as Dennis has done four times now, use the Package and have a happy stocked reef tank in a week.

LOL!!!Steve, he was already out of towels!!!!!
But I had to remove that one from the DT. Pretty sure he was eating my hammers.
Here's the current state of my tank and surrounding area. lol
Little cube holding my coral with one of my Radions suspended by bungee cords.
Towels everywhere. Real high class.
The wife must love the state of things.
I got a TBS shipment the day after you for 175 gal tank. I'll just do whatever you do because I'm a noob. So far I've also had no ammonia.
I have been stressing about the crabs but Richard pointed me to your post about just waiting until they get bigger. I know i have a lot of crabs and I think many of them are mithrix but some could be gorrilla. I also got a few porcelain crabs which the wife loves.
I got a fish that sounds like what you have described. Richard said mine was a Banded Sand Basslet. He is extremely shy.
I should point out that the TBS rock was spectacular. I only smelled one dying sponge and removed it. I wish I had gotten some pistol shrimp but alas I did not.
The funnest thing we did so far was put in a shell we had in some old tank stuff right in front of a hermit crab that had been roaming the tank for a day looking for a home. He loved the shell instantly and it was great to see him take it back to his rock.
The other thing that has been stressing me is the temperature. I can't seem to get below 79, so I ordered a chiller. I know 79-80 is a good temp but I suppose I want to make sure I can be consistent.

What a cool fish....not available in the trade....as they are always hitchhiking....I see them on the aquaculture site when harvesting rock...but they are SO quick...catching one the traditional methods would be hard...but they like to lay up in a hole in rock when disturbed....which is why they come in on the rock...when I haul up the bags...
