i got 10 chromis damsels about a month ago. now, there is only 5 left..they dissapeared.. dont know who is responsible for this..in my tank i have a mandarin, 2 maroon clowns, 3 older damsels, a star fish that cleans my sand, banded shrimp, and a cleaner shrimp in a 170gal mixed tank....does anyone know, or just a wild guess whos the guilty one? thanks guys..

The chromis themselves are the culprits. Chromis will weed out smaller / weaker fish and eventually you'll end up with 2 or 3. The only way to keep the numbers up is to add more as the school gets smaller.

the other damsles could be it but i've doubt it.. Like mattaylor said chromis always take out each other. Everytime this question comes up people almost always have a problem. Mine lasted a whole year before they took two out and i was left with just a pair.

Did you check the overflows? I swear, I end up fishing more of those guys out of the overflows than they are worth. I think they sleep towards the back and near the overflow areas and sometimes get sucked right on through.

i just finished counting my damsels..only 4 left...i checked my overflow and the filter, nope nothing in there..well, i guess someone is eating sushi tonight in my tank.....
