Dana...I want to see the...

hahaha! man, we must live in a small town, word sure travels fast!

i'd really like to see him too! i acclimated him for about 2 hours, just put him in maybe 20-30 minutes ago. saw a flash of gorgeous, then he was gone. red lipped blenny chased him behind the rocks and he's not been back out yet.

i'll be camping out with the camera tho, and you'll be the first to see!

dave, thanks so much for getting him for us, its really appreciated. now you just need to find him a woman! :love2:

all fish are "hims" unless they're pink or yellow, right? i think i read that in the conscientious marine aquarist. :)

Dana, you have that tank completely covered, right? No holes at all?

You might check in the back behind the rocks. It's common for them to set up a hole back in the back where you can't see them.

no, its not completely covered, but i've been looking around it to make sure he's not jumped. i saw him go behind the rocks...i don't think he'll set up there tho, cause i put the sand in after the rocks, so there's not much sand back there at all. i did put a piece of pvc in there for him. it supposed to help...give him a place to burrow til he gets his hole dug. it took a couple days for the midas blenny to wake up and get sociable...i'm hoping that he's just in his settling in stage.

Mine went hidden for a while before he picked a hole up front. Then jumped out of the tank through a small opening about a month later.

I've lost 2 jawfish to carpet surfing. I now use pond predator netting over my tank to keep my prized wrasses inside their allocated space :)

well, the cover is made. i used some lattice sized pieces of wood and made two frames per opening (4). the front will hinge so i can open it to feed and play around in the tank. for the cover i used a hard plastic chicken wire that has about a quarter inch grid, that i found at lowes. it was easier to cut than the egg crate, i could just use scissors, but it shouldn't diffuse the light as much as regular screen, and its much more stable and rigid. he ain't getting out of that sucker! i just hope the lights don't melt it. :)

ok, i'm getting worried, i still haven't even seen a flash of him and i've been checking off and on all day since i put him in. any ideas to see if he's still kickin? i'm thinking of getting one of those dental mirrors and attaching it to a clothes hanger or something to check behind the rocks. any other ideas other than rearranging all the rock? thanks!

found him! wohooo! he's found a place in the corner by the overflow. hopefully he's just getting over his bashfullness! yay!

I thought he was just hiding on you. Glad you found 'em. My watchman goby and my jawfish both hid a while before I saw them for more than a flash.

guess who was out and about this morning! yay!!

not the best pic, but i didn't wanna scare him back into the rocks.
