Dancing Waspfish

Things With Stings R Us!
I tried to find the thread to add this to, but I couldn't, but the poster asked if anyone had a vid of a "dancing" waspfish. I just happened to find one:

These fish actually have to learn to hold their place in the water column as they really aren't built for swimming.

mine does the same thing lol. and now when i walk past the tank he will follow me till i go back the other way lol. i should get a video of mine dancing and what not

They do like to be noticed, don't they?

I remember our cockatoo was so spastic trying to learn to swim, I actually thought it was ailing or was being shocked or something. It acted fine/normal until it tried to hold itself in the water column. It honestly looked almost like the fish was seizing.

yep mine does the same thing. personality wise i woul say they are great once the associate you with food. mine can make it to the top of the tank and then put his fins out and float to the bottom like a person using a parachute to come back down to earth.

when i first got him i wanted him cause he is venomus(it was my thing when i first started). now that i have had him for a long time i find that he is much more than a venomus fish. he is a cute, attention loving, leaf looking, dancing machine. definatly has been worth getting to know.

to bad they are not all that common around me. i got mine and everyone adores him after watching the tank for about 5 min.

I think that was my thread. I dont know where it disappeared to

That is just awesome. And I was pretty much sold on a wasp then, but now after seeing that, I'm so sold on one now.

Must get this tank going!

IME, the redfins really don't dance, but cockatoos do. They do, however, make themselves known to the food god by swimming up and perching in an obvious spot.

I've actually gotten brave and let the cockatoo perch in my hand occasionally if I'm working on the tank. Not the brightest move, but the fish is so gentle and trusting, I HAD to see if it would do it.

im tempted to try lol. i think i will hold myself back lol. for a funny little odd fish they are great.

Gotcha so only the Cockatoos dance. Thats fine. Do redfins do anything fun when they recognize the 'food god'?
Was planning on one of each species because I like both equally.

IME, the redfins will come out and perch where they know you'll be sure to see them.
