Darn snowflake eel

So I was told that snowflake eels are reef safe but not with shrimp. I have no shrimp so I purchased one. Well he was fine for six months or so and then he decided he likes the taste of my clams. He has killed 2 in the past 3 weeks. :mad2:

I have a fish trap but he is too long to fit inside. I have closed the door on him when he had his body 2/3 of the way in and he just slithered back out. Now only 2/3 of his body fits so I am in a dilemma. Is there any types of worm traps that may work? Or do it yourself suggestions?

I have a gallon milk jug in there with fishing line tied to the handle. I put some rocks in to sink it. Every night I put a few krill inside for bait. I sit for an hour or so and it seems like when I look away he grabs the bait and slithers away.

I guess that is why it is called fishing

Open to any suggestions at this point

I don't know if this will work, but you can take a soda bottle (in this case probably a 2 liter), cut 1/3 of top off, invert that back into bottle and staple it back together w/ the bottle top inside the bottle. Place food inside and sink it in aquarium. For some odd reason the fish swim in and can't seem to figure out how to get back out. I have never tried this for an eel, but it could work?

Never tried this some have done this before and it worked. Take a few pieces of pvc put part of the pipe in the water the other at the bottom near the floor then fill hole pipe with water and plug it quickly with water still in the outside tube. Then wait and you could put some food with a string on it to get it in there once in pull the plug and the pvc will siphon the eel and give it the ride of its life. Or you could rip up your tank.

My snowflake eats the same frozen brine shrimp and silversides that I float on the top of the water for all my fish. He comes up to the surface just like any other fish and could easily be caught in a net. Not sure if you could train your to do the same.

What was it eating before it took a liking to your clams? I have a Hawaiian dwarf eel in my reef tank. If I don't keep up with a feeding every two days, he will look for diner from the livestock I alredy have in the tank.

I use a tube from a python siphoning device. I have caught my Zebras several times by putting a shrimp in the closed end of it, and just picking up the open end after he goes in, and holding his tail so that he can't back up.
