Dart NW + ER RC500= ??

My pumps are dead & I am not about to spend $750 on 3 new eheim pumps. Any thoughts on using a Dart NW pump & use that on my skimmer which is a ER RC-500? 12 in diameter & 30 in tall

I would have to get kinda creative with the plumbing. The skimmer is inside my sump presently drilled for 2 RC pumps. I could easily drill 4 more holes so I could have 4 1 in holes going to the pump & likewise 4 returns.

Any thoughts??? Or am I better off trying either 2 eheim 1262's & do the meshmod or 2 OR3500's & do the same?

I think the old 2 Sedra pump RC500s had smaller necks than the new 3 Eheim pump model which is 5.5". Is that true? If so, you have to consider that for how much air it can handle.

Hmmm.... no clue there :(

My skimmer is actually or I guess originally a 12-2 & I unfortunantly I spent over $450 on the 2 GenX pumps that lasted about 18 months which converted it to a RC-500. Now it's $500 for less air then what the 2 GenX's used or $750 for similar performance.

Thus I was thinking a Dart NW....... However at close to $300 I guess I should just try 2 eheims & mod them myself.

thanks

the dart may be a bit to powerful. My body is 41" x 12" but I also have a bubble diffuser plate. You would best to ask euro reef then buying the pump and modifying the skimmer only to find out that the pump is to powerful.

Got a ruler?

LOL.... yea... but I am at work... I will check tonight

True, I should ask them due to the possibility of it being a costly gamble.

I think I will just buy 2 eheim 1262's & mod those myself. Be a cheaper & safer way of getting the skimmer back up & running
