dart or barracuda for the loop?

I say forget anything but darts. 2 darts are more flow and less wattage then a hammerhead or barricuda. set up 2 closed loops and run them on om4 ways through a #3 drum. the closed loop on my 560/g was that way through the bottom.

I run an Iwaki MX-250 .5 hp w/ Seimens VFD surge controller to 4 eductors, each surge cycle peaks for 10 seconds, total power consumption is less than 2 amps or about that of a Dart, only waaaaay more power

I'm using a hammerhead for the CL on my 450 and the tank is only 2 feet wide and that is barely enough flow. I'm using a barracuda for the return. With the two of them, I'm getting decent flow, but not great flow.

eductors make a big difference, I wasn't happy with my flow until I installed them

I had looked at them but everything I read said they aren't that effective unless you have a pressure rated pump, so I didn't use them. I might give that a shot though.

your hammerhead would be fine, the barracuda while not ideal will still produce more flow with eductors.

here's where I got mine and some info regarding pump size:

I think I'll give these a try on the new predator tank. Hopefully they will really blast the area throughout the rock and keep that area clean of uneaten food.
