Darth Wader's 30g shallow rimless

Hello everybody. Been a few years since my last reef tank. I've moved to another country and have been moving lots. Now that I'm fully settled and my house is stable I figured it was time to start a new reef.
I've been on RC for years and still chat in forums but I'm really excited to finally have a tank going and be able to chat with people about it.
Here is a list of my equipment.


Tank: 30g rr deep blue frag tank
Sump: 10 gallon w/refugium
Lights: aqua illumination SOL Super blue
Rock: 35 lbs BRS reef saver 2lbs live rock
Substrate: 20lbs carribsea
Skimmer: bubble magus nac 3.5
Return pump: tunze recirculation 1073.020

Yea I'm probably going to do a mixed reef that will be mainly sps stocked.
As for fish, I'm thinking pair of black clowns and a fish that my wife picks out.

Tank looks really good. I particularly like your aquascaping with the negative space in the front corner. The only comment I would make is that the tops of the rocks are all really close to the water surface and may present some challenges for coral placement.

Yea I might change the aquascaping a bit when I start putting in corals because my rock is really close to the top of the water.
BRS did an awesome job with the rock. They sent me exactly what I asked for and the rock is amazing.
The tank is 24x24x12

I say keep the aqauscaping close to the surface. It looks great to me

Also, I really like that tank and stand. Great setup so far. Looking forward to seeing this one develop.

I'm hoping to start slowly stocking it over the next few weeks/months and really excited to see it grow.
It's going to be interesting buying fish/corals in manhattan and carrying them on the subway back home to brooklyn.

Alabama, how do you like it there? Probably allot different then Brooklyn

Yes it a lot diffferent but i grew to love it here its so laid back and alot less crime and crackheads & traffic lol

Ok, I can jump in here - I have just bought the same tank!

It is by Deep Blue, and Darth's is the 30 Reef Ready. Mine is not Reef Ready, so I am looking into overflows at the moment.
