You're all good I think. There's almost nothing you can do to match the new water to your old DT water. Think of all the things in your old water that you just can't reasonably measure for in that water: millions or billions of micro organisms, 100's of trace elements, etc, etc. Everything will "cycle" until it finds equilibrium in your system. On a hobbyist's level, I think all you can do is match what you can and hope for the best. Do it slow or do it fast? I can give you pros and cons on either one so just pick one. Keep up your current routine, stay consistent, and give it time. It will turn out beautifully!

Sorry about the long time without a post but I've been fighting a losing battle with my existing fish. The Ich went away but both my powder blue and watanabe angel have came down with some sort of infection that has not been cured despite every medication and treatment I try.

are you planning on leaving that vortech on the end of the tank that is in the room?

Yeah unfortunately that is the best place to put the vortech for flow. That one vortech covers the whole area on the opposite side of the tank where I plan on putting coral. It's unsightly but havent thought of a much better way yet.

Whoa...the words "unfortunately" and "unsightly" should be banned in your thread....everything looks great in its place and i am sure when your final scaping is done and your corals start growing out, your slice of the ocean will be a treat to behold...

Whoops... watched USF go down in a ball of flames and forgot.

So it's hard to tell but on the main island on the back I moved some of the rock away on one side to create a small channel. In the third pick you can kind of see it in the back. I moved the left side away.

I also added one more short island. Not sure if I like this or not. I might just put some evasive coral on here that I knowing at some point i'll pull the whole island out. It was just looking a bit too bare since there is nothing in the tank.

Parameters are still looking good so I might head out this weekend for my first stocking run. Hopefully the LFS have some good stuff in.

Looking good. It will look better once coraline starts growing. Don't stress too much about the landscape. You'll end up changing it again after you add some corals. And then again after you add some more corals. The good thing is, with all the open space and bottom, its really easy to do. I was constantly moving entire sections and around.
