Dates for smaller turbelles?

Hi,

I have been following the threads about the smaller turbelles. I too have a 58 tank and would love one of these for it, however I do have a dsb. Which one would you suggest?

Can we pre order these from anywhere? I am looking forward to using another great tunze product!

It is up to the dealers as to whether or not they will take preorders, I think you will have some problems with the DSB. While a 6000 will work in a small tank it is alot of flow and does agitate the sand, particularly the 1-2mm grain type.
Last word from Germany was they would release on schedule for late March. I don't want to promise anything as we are behind on production as it is and though all components and packaging are already in stock they are holding off until they get caught up with existing product orders.

Thanks Roger,
I have two more questions.

1. Can the propeller housing be turned to face different directions or must the whole unit be moved to change it direction of flow.

2. I know you get tired of recommending pumps, but do you feel that the variable speed new small turbelle might fit my needs?

Thanks for your time

The pump swivels on its mount. I only am concerned with sand movement, it is definitely not to much flow for the animals, however on the higher settings the sand will be moved around.

Thanks Roger,

Unfortunatly you are correct, that is the biggest downside of a DSB.....limiting the flow. However, the benefits do outwiegh the cost IMO.

What are your thoughts on the contoller capable unit, I am not sure of the number but read where it go anywhere from 300gph to roughly 1000gph.

Thanks again, still on track for late March?

I was working with my customer with the 6010 test model on his 58 yesterday. We found that while the sand was badly disturbed with a front to back direction, a back corner to front opposite corner direction with rock structure providing some obstacles and the pump only 3" below the surface sand disturbance was nearly eliminated. The flow is adjustable betweeen 650 and 1850gph. Remember that this is coming out of a 2" nozzle so it feels like nothing almost at 650gph. The flow is similar to the effect of waving your hand in the aquarium. You would want the adjustable model. I think the 6010 is your best choice as it is unlikely you would want more than one pump which is the reason to choose a 6000 and a 7094 controller.
