Really new. Bought existing sand rock and water from lfs. Took water in to be tested in a couple days and we were good to go. My rock is awesome too. All kinds of feathers. Star hitchhikers, and even a toadstool leather. The other post has a picture of both clowns. They have adjusted great! What a nice addition to our home. I had a couple posts trying to get the pics to work since I am new. Do I keep the "night" lights on all night? Or let the tank go dark.

I know you're likely just going along with what the lfs says, but take it slow - nothing in this hobby happens quickly. Most new systems need a few weeks to cycle before adding livestock....so take your time...it doesn't sound like you've experienced much of a cycle...yet.

Anyhow, it depends on what lights you are referring to. If you have lunar or moon lights, you can leave them on or put them off before you go to bed, if you mean the blue actinics, they should go off with your main lights. Just remember that you don't want the tank too bright....it would be like sleeping with the lights on for us...

They are moon lights, but I did turn them off at bedtime last night because I wanted my little guys to sleep. They are eating well and water is testing perfect. LFS said already cycled in his tank, and buying water from his tank helps with stability. He did say only to do these babies for a while and add nothing else. He said not to make the biologic load big. I bought his tank water and ro/di salt water to do my changes as well. I went to so many stores before I found one I felt was good and looked healthy. I hope my trust is justified because we are so happy with all the results. These little tank raised guys are eating and trying to make friends already. One also trys to impress his reflection in the glass:) I keep telling my self I should sleep tonight instead of staring at the tank. They are so interesting. The rock too. My tank is the 24 gallon aquapod. There are pics of day 1 in my gallery, but is cloudy that day from the sand. The food I got for my little guys is mysis and Spirulina do you recommend anything else? Thank you for your time.

Cool, I know it can be sooooo hard sometimes to wait, but patience really is important in this hobby, for it to be a success anyhow.

I like to feed a good mix of food, mostly frozen stuff, but also some dry here and there. I feed mysis, brine, formula 1 and 2, etc. I have a jar of the "Sea Veggies" dry food, along with some dry pellet and crumbles that I add once or twice a week. I also usually add Selcon (vitamins) and garlic to every meal, alternating daily.

Any recent full tank pics ? :)

I just turned on lights and took one real quick:) Thank you for your time. Lots of people look and don't talk. This food says it has garlic. You do additional garlic too?

It's the 24 gallon aquapod. Thank you guys for your time and being nice. Hard being a newbie and wanting everything perfect. Someone else is complaining on one of my duplicate threads I accidentally posted figuring out the picture thing. It would not delete I emailed the moderator right when it happens. I hope that person never accidentally hits enter 2 x's. Wow. If you have to start with I hate to ask maybe you shouldn't

Hey do you turn your lunar lights on with your daytime lights during the day too? I wish directions provided with these things were more detailed.

The tank is looking great so far.

Yep, I feed an additional garlic supplement called Kent Garlic Xtreme. A few drops a night.

You're welcome to PM me anytime. :)

No, I leave them off during the day.

Don't worry about the second post, everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has been a newbie.

Thanks guys makes me feel better I was sad :) I was upset when I double posted in the first place. I appreciate your time. Shilo I put you on my buddy list. Thank you. My little guys are hanging out in a corner by the rock together. They are the cutest little clowns if I do say so myself:)

nope, I have my daytime lights on from 8 till 8 and then they go off and my moon lights come on during the night, and at 8am they go off and the day lights come on, etc.

They look pretty good. You should buy a test kit. Test your own water every week. It's important, especially in a tank that hasn't cycled fully. Keep the feedings smaller and more frequent so nothing hits the bottom of the tank. This will help the biofiltration deal with the new fish.

clownfish are so cool. You'll love watching them pair off and do their thing. Please do not let anyone talk you into buying an anemone for atleast 6 months.

I did by the test kits, and not the cheap ones. I bought the ones with the powder that they said were more accurate. I have been checking them everyday just to make sure. I am sure after a while I will stop checking so much:) I don't think I am going to get an anenome at all. I am researching. I think eventually I will get them a nice coral surrogate.

Hey guys my little clowns act like they are hungry all the time. They are even getting stuff from the sand. Is this normal? LFS said to feed in morning and night. I have been conned into a couple "snacks". Will clowns overeat? If they are acting hungry and actually eating does that mean to feed more?

I only feed mine once a day, but know of some people that only feed every few days.

I wouldn't overfeed them, it will reduce your water quality, and in a tank your size, thats not a good thing. How much and what are you feeding ?

Don't overfeed!! Your tank is too new, it won't be able to handle it. They will always act hungry, even just a few minutes after you've fed them.

I feed every other day. I have used this method for years without problems. Only feed what can be eaten in a minute give or take.

Cute fish, clowns do have a lot of personality:) Be sure to keep testing the ammonia levels and do water changes if you need to.

Best,
Angela

LFS store said spirulina flake food 2 flakes per fish in the morning and 1/2 cube misis shrimp at night. I took more pictures tell me what you think:)

I won't be rushing to get anything else anytime soon, but LFS seems to think I need an anenome. I just want to go with a coral surrogate. Any suggestion? I am thinking frogspawn looks pretty cool. Are they easy to keep? How long should I wait for this?
