Thanks Girl! I know,Well you know how excited I was (counting down the days) and my back hurt from all those daily water changes lol But yeah it SUCKS! I will never name my fish again until he hits the display! lol

Can prazi be used with cupramine to keep the fishes time in Qt cut to 14 days??

Yes, I've done this numerous times without ill effect. Don't , however use amquell or similar ammonia detox agents(prime ammon lock etc.) as they can turn the Cu2 to more toxic Cu( free copper) very quickly with tragic results. The prazi will not affect the amine binders in the cupramine in my experience an that of others.

Egg Crate is fine for your QT, but inadequate for a display tank. It blocks a lot of light and looks awful. A lot of us have made very nice covers with screen kits from the home improvement store and 1/4" mesh. Suggest you look into that.

I use eggcrate with some fiber glass screening material tacked on with zip ties for my qt tanks . I use mostly glass tops on my displays with eggcrate and mesh along the back. I've seen a Scotts fairy wrasse gill net itself on eggcrate.The fish jumped and it's head went through the eggcrate. As it fell back through, it was caught by the gills dangling in the eggcrate. Luckily, I was watching at the time.

You cut the aluminum frame to size, add corner pieces, put the screening material in the channels on the frame (I, and others, used pond bird netting), and hold it in using rubber line called spline (looks like small, brown twizzlers) and you're all set!

My 180 has very few corals...Some frogspawn,Hammer, birdsnest,Poci, (not much) But if I were to see the butterfly picking at the corals, I would give up the corals over the fish. My big hippo was picking at my brain coral and I had to trade him up with Kat because of that but yeah fish are first priority in my tank So far the corals I have chosen the fish leave alone.

There are two types of long nose butterfly:

Forcipiger falvissimus is more common. It is a good feeder but may nip corals.

Forcipiger longirostris: less common. It has a longer nose and smaller mouth. It is not know to bother corals but may be difficult to feed.

Actually Dave I am still considering it but haven't pulled the plug yet.I need to find more time, Right now Im so busy with work Im afraid Ill loose track of monitoring the Qt tank
(The way Im comfortable) doing it. But yeah I do plan on adding another long nosed sometime soon,Thanks for asking

depends if it's going into a reef aquarium or not

Some Butterflies will eat anything and everything.

there are definitely Chaetodonts that are MUCH easier to keep alive than Forcipiger

Thanks for the information! It won't be soon, but someday I'm thinking of setting up a large fish-only and would definately want a butterfly.
