Ok..Dark reddish / brown algae that forms around things sitting on the sand bed while the LIGHTS are ON. When they go out at night it goes away.

negative parameters = 0
Ca = 400ish
Alk = 3meq/L (I think.. )

T5 Constellation lighting
2x MP40W Vortex

120g display. Moderate load of LR. 5 Chromis 1 Sailfin 1 Yellow Tang, 1 big tomato clown. Lots of corals.

Diatoms?? Tank has been up and running for over a year now... Appears a little redder and thicker than diatoms that I've seen though...

I would say that the fact that it goes away at night indicated diatoms. I find that if I get a little lazy with water changes, or do a little overfeeding, I see some on the sand in the front of my tank. It reminds me to "get religious" again with the water changes...

I guess I'll bump up water change frequency again and see if it will diminsh over the next few months.

Thing is.. it is ONLY on the sand... no rocks... nothing.. just the bottom of the tank.
