DBarsotti's Tank in Town

Skip the coris wrasse, not the best of fish for a reef tank for a multitude of reasons. Do you remember what I told you about that CPR overflow? Tanks have looked great. Do you still have that 120 by chance?
lol you serious? Halichoeres chrysus(yellow choris) is one of the best, if not the best, pest eradicator that you could have in a reef tank. I'm confused..

You need to inform the rest of the lounge.

Also great build.

thanks kafuda

I suppose i do need to make my way over to the lounge, i just have a really short attention span mostly ha

you should of came over last night, you could of joined jake in laughing at what a disaster my reef is right now. ha:headwally:

FINALLY got the fish to eat. Took 6 days. Last night they started nipping on frozen cyclopeez then tonight BOOM the bigger one can't get enough frozen mysis. The smaller is also eating but no where near as aggressive as the larger one. I'm so glad they are eating.. I was starting to worry.

Love my yellow wrasse. I don't really know if he is eradicating anything.
He looks cool either way and doesn't bother anything or other fish.

Glad to hear the Anthias are gonna eat for you. I hate it when they won't eat.:worried:

I'm anxious to see your new tank set up.
I'm sure it will be awesome as usual.
:)

Lobster eggs are always a welcomed treat for all anthias types.

thats what i hear, i need to get some i feel ha

Thanks steve, Once i get it going i think i'm going to have everyone over for a BBQ/tankwarming party. You can laugh at my awesome plumbing jobs

Sooooooooooo... I've always REALLY wanted a little school of red spot glass cardinalfish for years.. But have read article after article about the high mortality rate. But today Divers Den had 5 of them up for grabs and i recently read a thread they put up about having success getting them to eat and even spawning in their holding tanks so i went ahead and pulled the trigger!

On wednseday i will be recieving 5 of them. I know its a huge risk but if i can keep this fish i will be so stoked. So we shall see.. I plan on keeping them in their own tank for the first few weeks and plan on adding them and the anthias to the new display before any other fish once it comes...

fingers crossed... Anyone having success with these fish from DD?

I was thinking red coris, not yellow. The yellows are great, cheap, hardy and colorful...sounds like my single days.

Yeah, I totally agree. The true Coris, the Formosa, the Gaimard (Red), not such a great choice for a reef. At least if you plan on having invertebrates anyway.

D1, are you talking Coris?

Or a slang Coris, like yellow or green?

Alright... So we lost one in shipping but the 4 that made it look great. Haven't eaten anything yet but they are very active, friendly fish. They never hide, always out swimming together.
Someone needs to get a breeding
Program going with these little critters..

Looking at your tank is like Looking up Yasmine Bleeth's Skirt...Your tank Should Run For President!

I was talking about just a yellow coris

so i was thinking.. the addition of this new 180g display to my system is going to be quite large... The system now is only 130g. This weekend i plan to plumb in my 90g sump to replace the 55g i have running on it now.. this will bring the water volume up to around 195g..

I was thinking.. i'll fill it up with water, add the sand, let the dust settle, warm it up and then open the valve to it a little bit so the new water is SLOWLY added to the system...

what do you guys think?

This is going to be doubling my water volume on an already shaky system, ha. so i want to be cautious

So basically you are doing a 50% waterchange.

Shouldn't be a problem IMO. In fact it will probably be a good thing.

Match up the Alk levels maybe, if you're worried about it.
