Dd pair of bluelines

Its implying nefarious, subversive, and clandestine things of this company. Heck, maybe they are the same fish, but I highly doubt it. There would be no reason to take second pics, no less change them, especially when there are people (like some in this thread), who seem fixated on haranguing DFSLA. Garbage insinuation is probably why they closed their forum here on RC. Theres always someone harping on how much fish cost, or now "its the same fish!'. They are premium! Although the same species, I would argue that the individual fish will not be healthier, regardless of where else bought. So, for such premium, it costs. Just like everything else in life.

I suppose, but that's a bit of an assumption, too. I didn't know that was why they closed their forum, though; that totally bites. And for the same fish/different photo deal, the photos from today are much more vibrant and seem better lit. They could have simply wanted a more honest representation of the pair when they had a chance to take it. Of course this is just speculation. :D

I would next to guarantee its not the same pair. Why do people hate on DFSLA so much? All they do is provide the best quality fish. And are in so much demand that people clamber over each other to buy them.

Calm down Jeremy, your getting heated again :D. No one hates DFSLA. But let's be honest, this forum in combination with the "Sneak peek" whips people into a frenzy when certain fish are offered. It's a great business model for LA, and I am sure they have capitalized. Alot of people in this hobby don't want to do the hard work of learning how to acquire and acclimate fish and would rather pay exorbitant prices to get a "healthy & conditioned" specimen. Kevin and his staff do the hard work for the hobbiest.
So be it, to each their own. There are DD specimens that are priced appropriately (ie. pairs of Conspics), and then there are some that are questionable. :crazy1:

Michael--How do you know that these are a true pair? Bluelines are one of the easier angels to "pair", or at least tolerate each other in a large enough tank. The two I had did not necessarily "pair" up with each other, but they coexisted and would often swim with each other with no aggression.

BTW, I don't believe the pair from tonight are not the same ones previously offered. Just my opinion, Maybe Kevin K. can confirm it.

I didnt mean to imply I know why they closed their forum. I dont. Im just a customer.

You're reading way too much into what I said...

I simply said I agree they are the same pair. I did not even being to insinuate anything else.

By the way, how can you "next to guarantee" it isnt the same pair? You have no clue, the same as the rest of us. However, at least we can look at the pictures and SEE that that fish has the exact same markings. If you had some way to back your statement up I'd be inclined to listen, but just a quick glance at the pictures proves to me it's the same male angel.

I dont care either way if it is or isnt, but I sure wouldnt be guaranteeing anything I didnt know about pretty assuredly.

Im not heated about most remarks, but some here are outright pathetically ridiculous. It almost screams of some sort of jealousy, of some kind. what you consider "exobitant", I do not. I see them as a premium. A Mustang itself is a palatable price value. but a Shelby Cobra Mustang has a much higher price, for the higher premiums. It has a tangible value. Is it for everyone? No. But, to argue that the price is "too high" is absurd. It has value above and beyond the cheaper priced ones, or isnt available elsewhere. Despite what price any fish "may" be able to have been purchased elsewhere, does this nagte the fact that DFSLA has costs, and pays money for these fish, and has every right and responsibility to recoup it? regardless of what anyone thinks of the relative price for a non comparable item?

In regards to this pair, I hope KK does chime in, so that all this petty speculation can stop. It doesnt matter either way, but the implications of it being some secretive act to trick people is aggravating, as DFSLA is excessively honest and forthcoming.

I dint accuse YOU of anything. The same way some can be "sure' they are the same, I can "guarantee" they are not. I am giving my personal guarantee (:lolspin:) that they are different pairs, because of my believe in KK and DFSLA reputation, integrity, and practices. It would serve them NO benefit to do what everyone is accusing them of.

My "evidence" ids their previous history and practices. Theyve had to repost fish before, and ahvent taken new pictures, withgout specifically stating so.

I cant take anymore of this thread...

In the OP I simply asked someone to buy me the pair. I dont care if it is the same pair, I just want them bought for me. Any takers? :D

Chill out.... all I said is that the pair looks the same. Where did some of you get the idea that I was putting down DFSLA? Since when observing that the pair is the same as the day before, is bashing on them?

I'm actually glad that the person backed down because I bought the pair yesterday and for your information, I love DD, I buy my fish almost exclusively thru them.

I know the price is a little high but how often do you see a pair of Blueline for sale? And if you want quality....

They will go nicely in my circular 300, I wanted an Emperor but I believe it gets way too big for my tank so these guys will be perfect. Will get them on Tuesday and I'm planning to put them on my refugium for observation and after a week or so, if they are doing well and eating, they will go into my DT.
I do not plan to QT them since my QT is only 29 gallons and they are way too big for that. I plan to call DD and find out if this pair was wild caught as a pair or was it paired up. And how long has the pair being there in their facility and have they been treated with any kind of meds and for how long.

Does anyone in this forum owns a Blueline? Any advice?
They will be going in a tank with an aggressive Purple Tang and 3 Yellow Tangs. I plan to introduce the pair into the DT at the same time as my Hybrid PBT, who is in my QT right now.

Congrat on your new addition and can't wait to see pics. :)

I highly recommend QT the Blueline angels. I never QT before till last year after getting a Blueline that came in with velvet and I don't have to tell you the after effect. I also find BL more susceptible to ich than my other angels but once they settled in they're pretty much bullet proof. Get the BL to eat prepared food before going into the DT the rest will be easy and I'm pretty sure they will hold their own. Smaller ones are easy to get to eat flakes and the bigger ones will take a bit of time to start eating pellets.

I received a 4.75" BL last March and it's about 6" now and a 3.5" last Sep which is about 4.25" now.

Here's a pic of them

Once again. I didnt accuse YOU of anything. Just as, apparently, you didnt accuse DFSLA of anything. As Michael said, the "conspiracy theories" about DFSLA are just absurd. People practically form lynch mobs over speculative misinformation. I like the company, and the staff, and think they are one of the most important assets to our hobby and community, so I just dont understand why people feel the need to microexamine and scrutinize them, as if they are on trial. Which DOES give negative connotations.

As you bought these fish, why dont you call and see if the are the same ones. I'd love to know (for curiosities sake) now, as all this hubbub was started over it.

No harm done... we are all here to learn from each other, right?

I'll definitely ask DD if they are actually the same ones so stay tuned.

I'm a little scared now since I don't have the facility to QT them and they are going into a tank that is housed with some mean Tangs.

I have till Monday morning to cancel the order so I guess I have a big decision to make. If I do cancel, we'll definitely know that they are the same ones that will be posted on Monday sneak peak list ;-)

What should I do???? I'm definitely not going to QT them so I run a risk of them getting sick and maybe even dying on me or worse, wiping out my whole DT.

Ok, who wants to take them and Qt them for me??? LOL

Money aside since they are expensive, what would you guys do? Cancel since they won't be QTed? or
go ahead and get them and put them in my refug for observation, add them to the DT once they are acclimated and eating. Problem is, what happens if they start to show signs of getting sick in my refug? Then I'm screwed !!

I'm leaning towards canceling them !!

Looking at your setup in your sig, I am super surprised you do not have a QT. I am not sure of your finacial situation, but if it were I, I would not risk my DT and the lives of this beautiful pair.

Didn't mean to scare you but rather sharing my bad experience. The live rocks used to look nice but after 7 days of Cupramine at 0.9 in dealing with outbreak they just look awful now.

Blueline pair don't come around often so do everything you can on your end to protect them as well as fishes in your DT.

Option: if it was me, I would go out and grab a used 55-75g used tank and put in about 50lbs of live rocks from your DT. Run it with 2 circulation pumps and a HOB/canister filter and perform about 10-15% daily WC. I never had any problem with adding live rocks to QT or DT when adding few fishes at a time.

I'm going to do the right thing and cancel the order. I do not want to risk such a great pair of rare fish.

Even if I went out and got myself a 75 gallon tank for a QT, I believe that by the time they are ready to come out of QT, all my Tangs including the PBT will be well established in the DT and therefore will be very aggressive towards these new additions.

Read somewhere that the Blueline Angels do better with more passive tankmates and that would not be the case in my tank. I think it would be a huge risk......

Thanks for all the input guys! Man, I hope I don't regret this decision....

Greetings,

I was alerted to this thread about the two different pairs of Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis we had listed this week. Just to clarify the pair listed on Wednesday evening, and the pair listed on Friday is in fact two different pairs of fish, and if all goes well there will hopefully be another listed very soon!

Thank you to everyone for all of your interest and support!

Cheers,
