de-rimming standard aqueon tank

I want to de-rim my 29 gallon aqueon tank and put a euro brace on the top instead of a black rim. I was just about ready to take the black brace off, but then I remembered reading somewhere that the glass underneath the black rim might be uneven and some sides are slightly higher then others.

Is this true? Thanks.

yes it is. It is highly unlikely that the top edge will be finished (smooth) That would cost an extra $.12 per tank (well, probably more than that, but you get my drift)

I took the rim off my 135g to repair the seam. It's an AllGlassAquaium which is now owned by Aqueon. The glass isn't rough or sharp but it's not pretty.
