Dead 6055

Hi Roger,

I bought two 6055 nanostreams two years ago, in April 2010. Both have been running continuously on a 7096 controller since then. One is still going strong, the other died last week. I cleaned it thoroughly, checked the impeller shaft and everything looks fine, even hooked it up to the leads from the other pump but nothing, not even a hum. I think the motor died. Is this thing still under warranty or were there problems with the early 6055s? I got 2 years of solid service out of this great little pump, but I'm not sure whether to send it in or just buy another one. Please advise.

Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,

These wouldn't be early model 6055's as the 6055 has been out since June 2007. There would actually be very difference between the pumps you have and the ones made today. The warranty is 2 years, I would send it in with the receipt, it is very possible it is under warranty. If it is not, the motor can be replaced for much less than a new pump.

Thanks for the reply, Roger. In reviewing my order histories I found that in fact I bought the two pumps and the controller in July 2011, which fits better with my recall and with our discussion about their use (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2046599). I had previously purchased a single 6055 in April 2010 but returned it because I did not have the controller at that time.

I don't know if I have the original receipt but I will print out the order invoice with documentation of payment from the order history at the vendor's website. Hopefully that will suffice.

Robert
