I dont know if my anemone is dead?? Its tenticles never come out they just stay in all the time. It also will never attach to anything. Right now it is the size of a quarter.
I have had the anemone for about 9 months. I think that it is a condy?? Yes it was healthy when i bought it. It was doing fine until i put all of my fish in my 55 gallon fish tank. That tank has been set up for 3 months now.
How many fish did you put in the 55? Did you put them all in at once? I'm thinking maybe there was a shock to the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate which may have killed it...or it's just reacting to that. So a possible mini-cycle of the tank. I could be wrong though, just a thought.
I started out with chromises and then put my b/w clownfish in then I put the critters and live rock in. I have 6 fish in there now. I plan on getting a blue tang sometime soon. That will be all the fish that i want for a while.
ph is a lil low .....i had a condy that when he started to die.,..he would release a stringy like substance into the water...it came from around his tentacles. if yours doesnt look like that then you are probably in a better state than mine was...try doing a partial water change..add some reef minerals [strontium iodine and magnesium, and ph buffer/ calcium supplement to raise your ph up some...i know my condy suffered cause i fought so much with my levels until i learned what i was doing.
why did you put your live rock in after you had put fish, etc in the tank? it should be the opposite. also, you should never be seeing any nitrite in your tank, i'd go with this as the primary cause of your condy shutting down.
55 gallons is way to small for a tang!!!!!! And the tank is only 3 mths old and dont see that you have a sump/ refigum so id bet $ that the tank is having a cycle!
