dead driver

Hi my driver for the 6100 pump died on me, I mean the blue/silver box. Is it possible to connect the power head directly to a power source and use it without pulsing at all but continually? Its just that a new one cost a bit more than the driver.

Hello Gil, how do you know your driver is dead? The driver never go bad unless you have salt water getting inside. You may check your transformer before making any purchase. The following action require to figure out what went bad.

1. If you have another 6000 or 6100, swap out the transformer too see if it going to work. if the transfer work fine then your driver is dead.

2. Check all the connection making sure nothing is loose

3. Give your pump a thorough cleaning

4. Last result, send your pump to your local tunze dealer and have them figure it out and pay for the part if your pump no longer covered under warranty.

If you need more help, feel free to ask.

Hi thanks for the replay,
I cleaned the pump and it did not help, I looked inside and one off the connection from the transformer where it connects to the board is broken (the welding is). I sent it to a friend (to check it out) but I guess it happened for a reason.
In Israel where I live there is no official dealer and no replacement parts in inventory. I have three more but they are 6101 & one 6200 so I am not sure I can check if the pump is bad too. I thought maybe I can let it run continuously since I do have other pumps pulsing.

You can remove the driver (silver box) from your 6200 and use it to test your 6100 driver. Both use the same drive with different transformer and motor block.

Drivers do fail occasionally, it sounds like this one can be repaired. In this case I solder the connection back to the board and put a drop of super glue under the transformer socket to anchor it to the board.

You could always order a driver from Tunze in Germany on the web page. The pump needs the driver to work, while technically it is possible to bypass it, it is not simple and if it is done wrong the pump will burn out.

Hi there Jar*Head & rvitko and thanks for the help. I listened to Jar*head advice and checked it with a deferent pump & transformer.. . it will not work & will heat real bad in a second.
I think it’s dead. Unfortunately there is no Tunze representative here and shipping the driver will cost all most as much as a new set.
So back to my question, how can I bypass the driver and use the pump in constant flow?

I don't know how to, I know it is possible but it defeats the safety and I wouldn't recommend it. I would contact Tunze in Germany by phone or email, they can probably help you.

I am sorry, there is nothing more I can do, you need to get a hold of the distributor in Israel or the factory in Germany.
