Dean's 360 Gallon Reef

Since I do not have the luxury of a fish room, my system must be built self contained within the stand. I installed new wood floors just before bringing the new tank into the house so I tried to do everything possible to prevent a flood and ruining them. First I decided to use a drip pan that would line the entire bottom of the stand. This would catch any water caused by leaks in the sump, top off, or plumbing that fell within the area of the drip pan. I also had a hole drilled into the back of the pan to hold a bulk head. From here I ran PVC through the outer wall of my home ( wife loved this!) to drain the contents of the pan out into the flower bed. Here are some pictures:

You can see the RO DO water line here. I ran it from the kitchen and hid it behind the 1/4 round molding on the floor.

thats looking good!, I like the drip pan with drain line, very cool idea. Could you adapt it an incoporate it somehow into a water change aid. IE use it to drain 10% of the tank easily without the use of a syphon?..just an idea.

Looking great! Great idea with the drip pan and drain. What are your plans for corals.....sps, softies, etc?

Thanks! Well that a good idea, but I really dont want to empty saltwater into the flower beds any time other than an emergency. If I do it would kill all the plants. :)

Thanks Scott. The tank will be sps dominated, but with some lps on the lower part of the tank.I have a 175 gallon that I will be moving things over from. But I should have some extra real estate with the bigger tank.

Nice idea with the drip pan. What type of material did you use? Was it custom made or something you put together from materials at the hardware store?
