Death of a large reef tank

Paolo, as everyone else has mentioned, I'm so sorry for your loss. Looking forward to watching you rebuild another beautiful tank.

Your tank was amazing and I'm so sorry for the loss. However, I'm so impressed with your positive attitude and can't wait to see what you build next!

Are you sure? I don't see that option.

Pretty sure - I never selected it as an option but I've gotten texts when our power goes out (and comes back on).

Edit: Hmmm, but when the wireless goes down it doesn't. Maybe it only notifies when it comes back up, which is not as useful. :(

I don't want to get off topic here, but I'm pretty sure that option is not available on fusion and Reeftronics is the only option. Could be wrong though, I've not seen that option.

Hope that helps:
1) Go on NeptuneSystems.com
2) click on "ApexFusion"
3) scroll down to "Easy text and email alert setup"
4) watch video.

Ok, I'm aware of email/text notifications, but I still don't see where it states they will contact you if they cannot communicate with the controller, which would be the case during a power outage.

This is what it says right from the Notification Center on Fusion and they make no mention of it in the video.

When an alarm condition occurs on an Apex for which you're set to receive alarms, email addresses or SMS numbers defined here will be notified.

So if there is no power to the Apex brain, there will be no alarm and therefore no text. Now perhaps since Fusion is web based it will automatically send a message without any programming alerts??? I haven't tested this as I haven't had the need since I'm registered with Reeftronics.

Sorry, to get semi off topic on this thread, but perhaps it will prevent a disaster like this from happening to someone else.

Just to follow up here. I spoke to Russ at Reeftronics and Fusion DOES NOT notify you if they lose communication with the brain. Reeftronics is still the only company out there that provides this service. Neptune does have the capability now with Fusion and have talked about offering it, but at this point they do not.

Sorry for your loss. It was a beautiful tank.

For the Apex folks...
To be notified of a power outage you need a 12v power supply for the Apex (UPS) and power for your home networking stuff (another UPS?). The apex can sense power in the EB8/6.

Check out the manual on pages 47-48 and 50. This is not fusion loosing connection with your base unit, it's the EBs loosing power. They are really two separate things. One could be fatal the other is.

I have found, with Apex Fusion power notifications, when power dies I get an e-mail and text. I think it's constantly pinging and if it doesn't reply, it sends you notification. Could be a false positive, but nonetheless, good. I have an Apex on one of my systems with no battery backup and just last night, got the notice. My other system, with battery backups, I didn't because it was still replying (my router is on a backup as well).
