The December meeting is coming sooner than you think. The December meeting will be at my house in Windsor on Friday the 14th @7PM. Everybody is asked to bring a frag for the swap. This time around the swap will be a little different. I ask that everyone wrap their corals like a Christmas present. For those of you that have always been drawing the queen and king (Jeff) all year long, you now want those cards. The swap will be held like a white elephant exchange. The member with the ace will choose a present and unwrap it to reveal it's identity. The next member can now choose to take the coral from the first member or unwrap another and so on.
We will also be having an appetizer potluck. Bring your favorite holiday foods and of course your favorite beverages. Let's post on here what food might be brought. As we get closer I will PM and email everyone my address. Can't wait, It's going to be a blast.

Wouldn't miss it, parties at your house are always so much fun and usually last until the wee hours of the morning.
 
That is an interesting idea....just curious how many members show up for a meeting? How many times can a person steal the gift. We do this at my work and we had to limit the stealing at some piont. Sounds fun though...good luck.
 
Hey Arnold, as of late we have had an average of about 18 people. This is the first time we will be playing this so we'll have to see. Why did you have to limit the thievery?

BTW Mike, I will definitely be there.
 
We had to mak a rule that says the gift can only be stolen 3 times....for about 30 people the game can go a long time. That's all.... time constraint.

Were you at the dixon swap.....I saw and spoke to Tom, but it would have been cool to finally meet some of you guys in person. Good luck with building your club, I have been on the BAR BOD for 2 years and its been pretty smooth and lots of growth, but I joined after the blow up from BARE/BAR 1st year, don't know much about it...but I think small clubs and get togethers are cool and more fun. I think we are getting too big to manage easily.
 
Yes, I was at the meeting with Tom. I talked to Norm, And a few others I have seen alot on the boards but never had the opportunity to meet in person. I'll be at the meeting on Saturday. We are pretty happy about the size of our group now. Its nice to be able to have our meetings at our houses to show off our tanks, and get ideas on how to improve them. Our group right now is very motivated and enjoy each others company.
 
Hey Arnold, I like the idea of limiting the steals. I just need to come up with a way of keeping track of it. Sometimes even in a group of 20 we tend to start talking and bs-ing and lose focus. Tom, Jeff, his wife and my wife and I will be at the meeting on Saturday. We will introduce ourselves. See ya there. Mike
 
Arnold, if you are available you are welcome to come up and help with the rule :D Mike's house is down the street form my house so you can check out Mike's Jeff's and my tank :D. I agree with you about big club, one of the agenda item for us this month is going to be voting for limiting club size because we love the small size of the club. We are all very close and love to help each others.

And like Jeff saids, we enjoy each others company.

Mike yeah I was going to ask about that, I think stealing no more than 2 times works the best for our size party. And to put in a little twist .... of lime, if you are going to steal, you have to first down a double shot of Tequila :lol: Also we have to have 1 or 2 mistery gifts that can be anything, the person can either steal or take the mistery gift .... :D the mistery gift can't be opened until the end of the game.
 
I like it Tom, Jeff and I were trying to come up with a twist. There it is. Thanks. I will be posting a full list of the rules before Dec.

Pro and cons about being small or a big club. When I joined BAR it was like 30-50 people, with only about 15 regulars at the meetings. Now we are over a 100 and more at the open swaps. We got official with the IRS a year ago as a nonprofit and are able to do more things. I do miss the more smaller groups, that is why I do my SF tank tours. One idea we (our tank tour group was joking about last time was a poker game with frags......I raise you 3 zoa frags against your monti frag kinda game.) It might actually work better for you guys.
 
Hi Mike, It was nice to meet you at the BAR meeting. Sorry I couldn't talk with you guys more, but I had stuff to do for the setup and raffle afterwards. You guys didn't stay for the raffle? Anyways have fun with the poker game.

Tom, so you going to bet the whole tank against my frags...I think you are bluffing too. :)
 
We normally stay for the raffle but we were all out of cash that day. Had to pay the PG&E bill. I will definately hit the next raffle. you guys have awesome raffles.

There's a down side to being in charge. You have responsibilities at the meetings. You can't just hang out and mingle. That's how I feel at our meetings. It' all good though.
 
That might work out. May try to talk the wife into going over to the parents in Healdsburg on Friday. Going to the 9ers game on Sunday anyhow, and my sisters birthday is the 17th....hmmmm...I'll get back to you once I've buttered up...I mean, discussed...with my other half.

I'll find a frag of something to bring, but not sure about getting something for the potluck, I'll have to figure that out. i can bring some decent beer:bum:
