Hey!

My name is Jim, and I have been keeping aquaria since 1999, reef tanks since 2003. My jump into aquariums started when my cousin purchased a 10 gallon freshwater starter tank, and within 2 months of that (after quickly learning about overstocking ) I had already upgraded to a 29g and 55g. In early 2003, I went to a LFS that actually had a full blown reef and not just the usual saltwater fish only. I was floored by the color, brightness, diversity and especially the pulsing xenia. I soon had a 90 gallon tank up and running, my first few coral being a flowerpot, frogspawn and a clump of Xenia. Aside from reef keeping, I have done a couple years of “high tech” planted tanks, which have high lighting and injected CO2.

Reef Central has been an invaluable resource for me, from basic info to impressive DIY instructions and ideas. It is part of my daily routine to at least just quickly scan over the General Interest forums. I have bantered back and forth with people via PM for no other reason than just to talk, and received tremendous amounts of help from people when I asked for info on equipment I was overwhelmed by. I am honored that RC has named me ROTM and sees my membership here as a positive influence. I enjoy helping people when I can on anything I can, and I am glad it comes across that way.

I love every aspect of this hobby, but especially thinking up and setting up tanks. I am always learning of better ways to setup a tank, both through my own experience as well as seeing others ideas and experiences here. I wish I had RC as a resource for my first couple of years, as I do like the views and mottos (take it slow and research) advocated in the New to the Hobby forum. My current tanks are in the midst of changing to what I hope will be a long term 120g SPS and a dedicated 75g anemone tank. I wish I was able to provide photos of mature tanks, but the 120 is just rock and two fish, and the 75g I just started to setup.

Thank you again, Reef Central, for naming me ROTM for December, it means a lot to me. Everyone else……I’ll see you on the forums!

Jim

Congrats, Jim. You are a great person to have here in the trenches!!

I always felt relieved when James' avatar popped up on my silly question threads. His info was always spot on, easy to understand and never once had even a hint of arrogance.

He has gotten me out of a jam more than once and for that I say a very sincere "Thank You".

And of course, Congrtas!!!!!!! :celeb1:
