Hi all,

I've been reading and reading about protein skimmers and I'm just all tied in a knot. I have a cpr 194 wet dry which comes with a built in skimmer and I'm in the process of setting up my brand new 120 gallon 60X18X25 reef tank. I don't think the cpr will meet my needs so I was considering the following:

Warner S150
Octopus 160
ASM G1A
Bubble Magus BM-180A
Bubble Magus NAC-7
Any input would be appreciated. Oh I should point out that the height of my sump is 12".
I am not new to the hobby but have been away for 12 years so educate me please!:D

When I had my 120 setup I was using the octopus skimmer similar to the one you had listed. Worked decently but remember that the skimmers work properly with a specific water height. So in 12" of water some of these you might have to sit on a stand or something so that they sit in their recommend depth of water.

Theres a skimmer on the market called the seaside aquatics CS2. Its the same as the BM180 but with a syncra psk1000 pump. I would get that one.

Hmmm... seems people like the Bubble Magus. I looked at the seaside CS2. They look identical.
As far as the water level... I didn't explain correctly. The actual height of the walls are 12"
