Declivis butterfly - something (infection?) on head

Best way I can come up with to describe it is it looks like a popped pimple. It is elongated, right above one eye. Like a wound with some chunky pus or soft tissue protruding out. It is also a little red (blood?).

Background, the fish has had ich several times and been through copper and hypo several times. He has some other skin lesions/issues from being in hypo too long. He has been at regular salinity for about 6 weeks - had some copper in his water (less than full treatment levels but still some), did a water change and put some carbon in and this popped up. Is it just a wound or is there something I can treat for?

Sounds like the fish is taking a pounding by not being in healthy water conditions. Why ich several times? Proper treatment once and it is irraticated. Sounds like you are doing something wrong causing this never-ending Cycle.

The issue sounds like some bacterial infection caused by the conditions and needs to be treated with some anti-biotic.

Pictures would help

I agree with Chris.

Right now he's in a 37g by himself, getting 5g water changes once or twice a week. The first few times he had ich I removed him and copper treated him in a QT but he was reinfected when I put him back in the main tank. Then I did hyposalinity on the display tank, but cut it short because half my fish died, and he broke out again. Then I removed him and did hypo in a QT, he was in this QT in hypo all summer, this is they healthiest he's ever been in the year Ive had him. Eventually he started getting skin lesions from being in hypo too long, and sure enough he got ich again when I raised the salinity. Coppered again... and here we are.

I really like this fish but he's been the biggest pain in the *** I've ever had haha.

I've had good luck with Nitrofuracin green powder and butterflies with various bacterial type sores. I've used it with copper before. I would treat him in the QT, and once he's healthy sell him, because I'm not sure there is a way to introduce him to a DT with ich? Maybe someone else has a better idea...
