Deep Live Rock Portion of Sump, Any good?

it just dawned upon me that what I have might not be ideal. in my sump i have the last section of it filled with about 200 lbs of live rock rubble, it is maybe 2 x 2 x 2 filled completely. Is this a good use of the liverock? or being so condensed and stocked is it just killing it?

The main thing I'd be concerned with is to make sure that no detritus is accumulating in the rubble.

The spaces between the rubble combined with the typical low flow in the sump would make this a potential place for detritus to settled out.

Reef,
What you will likely notice is a narrowing of the diversity of your life on the rocks. But then again, we all notice this, whether or not it's in the sump or in the display. Sponges will form after some time (refer to cryptic zone filtration here and on reef videos http://www.reefvideos.com/ ) and you'll simply have different life on your live rock. It wouldn't be killing it per se, just focussing the variety of animals growing on it that can survive the current conditions (light, flow, nutrient levels, predation). FWIW
