Deep Sea 3D Mantis

Went to see the new IMAX last night...It's pretty wicked, but there's a scene with a "hawaiian mantis" that was taking on an octopus. He looked like a spearer and was really rather large, and I had no idea what species it was...any ideas from those that have seen it?

The scene is of a Hemisquilla californiensis attacking a bimac. The scene was staged in the cove on the northeast end of Catalina. I would guess the stomatopod is about a 10 inch long mature male.

roy, do you have any cool footage of mantis's that you could show us??? like some unique specimens or perhaps some cool prey being captured
