deltec skimmers - anybody using one?

I am thinking about upgrading my skimmer and was looking at the Deltec's. I was wondering if anyone here locally is using one and if they are worth the money, and would you buy one again, etc etc.

I would go H&S over Deltec. gotta say they are great skimmers.
I was going to buy my friends Deltec b4 the H&S but he didn't want to sell it to me cause he said they were overrated. he also was an authorized dealer and a pioneer in the hobby who's tank was featured in Ultimate Aquariums.

Jesus any luck at James house? when I stock up Ed and I should come by for some Jesus LE's, what do u think?

H&S is also good skimmer. My first Deltec was APF600 which was ordered from Dalton. Now Alicia has it. You can come by anytime.
He gave me about 8 frags. I hope the pink smoothie will grow fast.

jesus

I have an APF600 and this thing rocks. I love it !! Definately worth the price in my opinion!!

Skimmers are so darn personal IME. Just like a Putter in Golf. That is just a personal preferance and i wouldnt let anyone pick one for me. I have a Tayloe Made Rossa. WHat a great putter to bad the guy behind it sucks!

I Personally feel with Deltec, H&S,Reeflo, ATB, BK you cant go wrong and the ER RC line. Now its up to you grasshopper

my very first skimmer was the downdraft models: reefdevil dlx then the evo 700, I then tried the aqua c, asm needlewheels, ER line then a RC ER, an MTC, then the H&S came into my life and never looked back. before the H&S I was really high on Deltec but again my buddy who was an auth dealer steered me away from their skimmers. just my experience.

don't get me wrong the BK is great from what I hear, I am just not dumb enough to pay 3K for one and the Reeflo, is too much power consumption and not a fan of external. my skimmer is external but I use it in sump.

either way, you will have a fine skimmer with a Deltec or H&S. Buy the one from the business that you feel will provide you with the best after purchase service. If you are interested in a Deltec, let me know.

Looks like you're looking for a higher end recirculating skimmer as opposed an non-recirculating in sump only model. From everything I've been reading, I don't think I could find any complaints about the H&S skimmer. There is so much mixed reviews about built and customer service with Deltec, but judging for their forum, there's a big shakeup going on.

Just keep in mind that whatever skimmer you end up with, be careful to select a properly rated skimmer for your total water volume and bioload. You get long term frustrating results with either too small or one that is way to big.

yeah, I am trying to decide between the deltec and the H&S. I guess that Yourreef uses the H&S skimmers on their systems and they really like them. I hear great things about both of these lines, just not sure which one I am going to go with, I keep leaning towards both of them. If I can get a good deal on an H&S, I might go that route. Otherwise, I contacted someone online who is selling a brand new Deltec for about 2/3 what he paid for it new a year ago.
okay so next question... my tank is 300g and I feed quite heavily, I just like watching my fish eat :) so I am thinking I'll probably get a skimmer that it sized for a larger size tank than 300, and I might also someday connect my 120 into the same system. H&S has one that is rated to 500gal and has three of the "aquabee" pumps (not the eheim's). anybody have any suggestions here?

are you the new Deltec dealer?

I would definitely get the Eheims over the Aquabees. They will last longer and are one of the best pumps on the market. Since your tank is 300g+, I'd go with the H&S A250 as shown here:

I just sold a 200 3x f2001 with the 3 aquabees. That was rated for 500gal. That thing moves some serious water. Heres some pics.
