deltec skimmers - anybody using one?

Thanks Sang. I was actually thinking about that model when I was browsing their site last night. I'd have to see what YR could get me for a price on one. I haven't heard anything negative about the H&S skimmers, but you did confirm what I'd heard elsewhere about chosing the eheim over the aquabee.

I would definitely get the Eheims over the Aquabees. They will last longer and are one of the best pumps on the market. Since your tank is 300g+, I'd go with the H&S A250 as shown here:

I just sold a 200 3x f2001 with the 3 aquabees. That was rated for 500gal. That thing moves some serious water. Heres some pics.

I would also recommend the EHEIMS over the Aquabee's.
You can always go with either the H&S or the ATB Medium who also uses the Eheims for their medium model. That can do up to 700G.
Good luck on the final decision.

are you the new Deltec dealer?
actually yes, I am a dealer for both product lines. BTW, Aquabee has made a number of improvements in their pumps so they are about as good as the Eheim pumps are now. I would not base the difference between the two manufacturers on the current pumps.

Performance aside. If you go off built quality there is no doubt to me H&S is better.

Aquarium Concepts also carries Deltec if you want to check some out if Bruce doesnt have any on hand.

Think there are a few local reefers that own H&S also

you would be correct. I don't carry any on hand. To many to stock. IMO they are near equal. I have found it easier to get Deltec then H&S products in the past.

Truth be told that I never considered Deltec due to one thing, shoddy customer service. I could not support Doug as I read and heard many complaints about his service. You would be amazed at the stories I've heard. Now, Marvin has taken over which is a fabulous thing for Deltec. I have heard and read only good things about Marvin. Even then, I still think H&S has a better product. They are just built better, imo.

yeah, I am trying to decide between the deltec and the H&S. I guess that Yourreef uses the H&S skimmers on their systems and they really like them. I hear great things about both of these lines, just not sure which one I am going to go with, I keep leaning towards both of them. If I can get a good deal on an H&S, I might go that route. Otherwise, I contacted someone online who is selling a brand new Deltec for about 2/3 what he paid for it new a year ago.
okay so next question... my tank is 300g and I feed quite heavily, I just like watching my fish eat :) so I am thinking I'll probably get a skimmer that it sized for a larger size tank than 300, and I might also someday connect my 120 into the same system. H&S has one that is rated to 500gal and has three of the "aquabee" pumps (not the eheim's). anybody have any suggestions here?
I would agree with everyone and go with the H&S A250 that has the 2x Eheim pumps over the 3x Aquabees. Also, the A250 will handle the additional load when you add-on the 120g, I don't think the 3x Aquabees will. Of course, the equivalent Deltec is the AP902, but if you can see these 2 skimmers next to each, what a difference is construction and one gives you confidence behind how the skimmer is put together.

I may have a 3 month old H&S A200x1260 for sale.
I saw some of your other posts under BAR, you think that the ATB is a better performer than the H&S? I am curious about this because it is so hard to separate the truth from all the hype that is on this new ATB skimmer. Some of the hype really borderlines on commercial endorsement for the product.

if you plan on investing a lot of money on your skimmer and want quality, build and performance, then that's a no brainer, H&S. I would even go ATB over the Deltec. but again its your money and hope you make the right decision. good luck, jeff you should call me about these skimmers. peace.!
