Demand for sps frags?

I would like to hear what those that have been in the hobby a while have to say about the demand for good quality all colorfull sps frags right now and down the road.

I am going to start propigating sps colonies. Starting smallish, well a 240 gallon, and going to get full colonies to grow and frag. If they sell well most of the money will go into setting up more tanks and getting new colonies. I have half of a full large basement to setup in. I roughly estimated I could get in 6, 8 foot tanks and a center cube to keep all the frags. Going to use t5 so less electric cost and less heat. As things grow I plan to setup a website and become an actual business. I want to be clear I am not starting a business yet, I only have one tank so far, if things grow I will become an actual business, just wanted to be clear on things.

What do you guys think, is there enough demand?

Big demand friend!!!

I'm a hobby frag grower on a somewhat larger scale...about what your talking about...

I just do it as a service to help reefers stay in this AWSOME hobby....making money is not a factor with me....

i think theres a demand if ur in an area where its hard to come by nice frags and such anything with color will sell from zoo's to sps

if u got the time and the money then i think u can make a turnaround on it

I think there are a few good venders in the area but nobody doing cheaper but nice frags. I am in northern indiana and about the same distance from Indy and Chicago and Detroit, a little farther to cleveland and cincy so there are plenty of people pretty close to me.

I've crunched the numbers and with only modest fraging will bring in enough to setup more tanks and so on.

Here's a question for you, how many 1-2" frags can you usually get from a good sized colony at one time?

Depends on the colony...I could get 4-8 off of a Bali aquacultured colony...leaving a nice half left for the mother to conrtinue building upon....
