Denitrate Reactor

Could you please explain to me how a larger reactor would benefit a larger tank? It seems to me that they both would cycle through the same amount of water if there set on the same drip(s) a second ratio. I've been told that they can't be set to run wide open even if they can handle the nitrates because it will crash your alkalinity. I understand a larger reactor holds more media but if it doesn't produce more 0 nitrate water the only benefit i can see is you have to fill it up less often.

Hi Brian,

Denitrifier's are my one downfall in the equipment realm of this hobby. I have only set up a couple of them before, and have had limited success in doing so. I look at this pretty much the same way you do, in production qty, not total volume of media, etc. I personally would think a smaller one would do the same job as what a larger volume would do.
