Derasa Clam and compact fluorescent

Alright my Local shop told me no problem. I have a small Derasa ( I think ) clam in my aqua pod. The pod only has 2 compact fluorescent lights. One is a saylight 10k and 6.7k light ( working off of memory ) and one Actinic Blue light. I have the clam about 8 inches under the lights. Does this clam like to be in the sand? If i can keep it on the rocks how do i make sure it doesnt move and slide down? Is my clam just going to die in this environment?

i would say that the light is insufficient, it may be able to stay alive but probably not thrive. i personally would not keep a clam under that lighting.

another concern should be the size of your tank and the incredible growth rate of the derasa clam. he can put on 2 - 3 inches a year and place a large demand on Ca in a small system causing instability.
