Derasa Clam Keeps Shifting

Hello - I've had a derasa clam in may tank for ~5 months. It has done well and grown significantly. I have 2 150W 10000K MH and 2 96W actinic lighting. Due to algae growth I have significantly cut back on adding liquid food supplements for my clam and corals in the last 2 months. I don't know if it is coincidence or not, but the clam began shifting back and forth in the sand at least one a day about a monht ago. Water parameters are good - no detectable amonia, nitrate, or nitrite. I've heard people use the phrase gaping and I beleive my clam has been doing that more in the last couple of weeks. It continues to look healthy with good color. Are any of these symptoms a warning flag?

Derasa's very rarely gape, if they do then i would be concerned.
the fact that the clam is moving around some wouldn't bother me too much. when the clam moves do you move it back? what i mean is is the clam moving from a spot that YOU like and can see it well and then you are moving it back? can you post a pic?

The clam is really shifting or rotating. It does not change location, it just faces different directions while remaining in the same spot. I have not moved it since I put it in the tank. I'm new to keeping clams, so maybe I misunderstood what people mean when they say gaping. What does it mean? I'll try to post a picture shortly. Thanks.

try to post a pic, it will help a lot. if you cant post just let us know or shoot it to me in a e-mail and ill post it

I took a picture, but I am not able to post it for whatever reason. The reef central e-mail function looks looks like the file must be on the internet to send you a link, which I can't do. It doesn't look like reef central lets me send you a file attachment in the e-mail. Am I wrong?

Its been running for about 14 monhts now. I have been very slow to add new livestock so its still pretty sparsely populated. Thanks for your help.

i didnt mean young as in sparse:) what i meant was your live rock is very clean. clams will move around alot some times, dont worry about it too much unless it starts loosing color or really acting funny. i would have posted your pic but i couldn't figure out how?
