Derasa Clam

Could a derasa clam do fine with 2X110 watt VhO's in an 80 gallon? 48X18X24. I have an idea how i could keep one at the top though. Fill up a container with sand and sit the clam in the container and the container on the rocks.

I would say no. It may live, but I doubt it will grow, be very healthy.

What Ballast are you running? IF you can add at least another bulb, you may be okay. 2 more bulbs would be good.

Should 2X250 watt halides along with my current VhO's be enough lighting for derasa's, squamosa's, maxima's, and crocea's?

Oh yeah. Maybe not Croceas, I have seen them not last long term in many tanks. But, then again some do well, just seem to be much more demanding.

that lighting will be fine for any of the clams,remember that 6500k to 10k is best for clams

I bet that if you got 4 110w VHO instead of 2 you would just fine with a Derasa....I don't think Halides are 100% necessary for Derasa Clams. I had mine under 2 65w P.C's for over a year until I moved it into a larger tank.....They grow suprisingly fast!
