desjardini sailfin damaged fin!

Just bought this small des sailfin. He was doing ok the first two days w a glass barrier he was able to hide behind. Then last night he was out and the other fish weren't messing with him too much so we took out the barrier. Then this morning his dorsal fin was damaged and it won't go up.

What other fish you got in there? When my tangs has fin damages they always recover the damagw within 1-2 days

We have a 300 gal. With a 13 in unicorn tang, 5in powder blue, 6in naso, 3 1/2 in oriental sweet lips, 4in banner fish, silon puffer, stars and stripes puffer, guineafowl puffer, moon wrasse, bird wrasse, banana wrasse, 6in lionfish and a Koran angelfish.

Keep an eye on the lion with the puffies.

The oufferfish were in quarantine bc Their eyes were cloudy. Had to treat the infection before they could go blind. Not sure who got the sailfi but looks like the damage must have been pretty bad cuz he is on his death bed.

Yeah our loin has taken nips at our Ceylon puffer. He is the only puffer small enough. The lion may have to go..

I was thinking more the other way around. Most things with beaks will go after lionfish.

I doubt fin damage got the sailfin. Check him over closely and look for other injuries. Could he have been pinned under a falling piece of hardscape? Also, figure out what was affecting the pufferfish.

We took the puffer fish in. They had a bacterial infection that had just started in their eyes. All good now.
