Desjardini tang colors?

Do Desjardini tangs get darker with age? I have a friend with a 2.5" tang that he said he will give me for going into my 210, but it is pretty light. Here is the picture I got of it.

So I've seen some nice, dark looking Desjardini tangs in people's established tanks that I think are at least a couple years old. The tang I'm looking at getting is only about 6 months to a year old I believe. I'm just wondering if they get darker with age? I really like the ones I've seen in pictures that are darker, the tail takes on a almost blue/purple hue.

Anyone know?

I've had one for about 1.5 years now and it's darkened up some. It's about 5" long/tall. I've seen others that are much darker than mine and a lot smaller.

Great fish so I would say go for it.

It will likely darken a bit while it ages, as others have said, but I like it just as it is. I'd snag it if I were you.

I guess I would agree, it is a nice looking fish and your tank, while a bit small, will do for a while.

Alrighty, thanks for the replies, I think I'm going to end up getting it from him.

A 210 gallon tank too small for a sailfin? I dont think so in the least... It's 6 feet long, 24 inches wide and 29 inches tall, he will have plenty of room to move around in there even if he reaches MAXIMUM size, which will be years and years down the road.

Sorry, but it is too small. That fish will grow to 15 inches within about 3 years and 6 feet is not enough swimming room. But in the short run, it will be ok. I had one in a 350 gallon tank and that was really too small.
