Deviated septum

I have a deviated septum and I am planning on diving next week. The only problem I have had was when I was coming up from a long dive in Florida about a year ago, I go a reverse block that wouldn't clear after many attempts. I was forced to surface which caused me extreme pain for 5 hours in the right part of my head. This may have been related to a cold about a week beforehand but I am still skeptical. I went on a cold water dive at the end of the summer and was fine. Should the deviated septum effect anything while I am diving? (My max depth will most likely be 100 feet.) Any recommendations as to what /i can do before the dives?
Thanks.

This is a tough call over the intertubes.... My first advice would be to talk to your doctor. If possible, request a consult with an ENT specialist (preferably one who dives). A lot depends on location and extent of the deviation. Did the block occur on the side of your deviation? If so, you should really look into a surgical repair. If not, it may have been related to the cold you suffered.

If you commit to this dive, descend and ascend VERY slowly, clearing all the while. Stop at any point where you cannot clear.
