Devils Hand not looking good

Hello, purchased a small devils hand frag from LiveAquaria online. It came in the other day and when i opened the bag it stunk. I floated the bag in the top of my tank to get use to the water then every 15 mins added small amounts of tank water. After about an hour of doing this i put the coral in the center of the tank on the sand bed. Coral started to open up a little bit. Looking at the coral now some of the polyps are open on it, but it looks like the coral is laying down and not fully extended. should i be worried? the coral is getting a moderate about of flow. but i've only had the coral in the tank about 24 hours. just don't want to lose the coral or have it die and damage the tank. is the fact that the coral polyps are open a good thing? i would think so, just not sure why it looks ilk it's laying down and not fully extended. what should i do? :uhoh2:

Here is a pic.....does it look healthy?

Here are a few more pics. Looks like the polyps are out but some ends look like they are pealing or losing skin. Is this normal? could it be getting to much light? its at the bottom of my tank under LEDs.

Leathers will shed their outer layer from time to time as debris and other things build up on them. The fouled water (hence the smell when you opened the bag) probably triggered it to shed that outer layer. Should be fine. when I got my yellow fiji didn't open all they way for 3 or 4 days.

I have 2 and they go through cycles of looking good and looking bad it should be alright. I would just turn off the computer and pour a glass of wine for the girl in your avatar just saying

It will take some time to recover. Provided the stem is in good condition and not disintegrating, it wll come back. Looks like a nice specimen.....

I agree with limbo. Give it a little more time and pour a few glasses of wine for the avatar girl.
