DHaut's Dual Display Nano

the bulb screws into a standard edison light socket - so you can pretty much use any light fixture. I use a hanging kit from Lowes.

I have SPS under the light and they do just fine - I would imagine a clam would fare well. I'm using a mix of 60 and 80 degree optics (changed them out - it comes with 40s stock, but if you ask they can change them). The light is about 9" above the water - 20 or so inches from the sand. evilc66 on NR recently posted a PAR plot if you really want to get a good idea of what the light puts out.

Amazing tank and pictures. Im a newbie and curious whether or not you ever get temperature fluctuations? I don't ask because of the design, I ask because I am just wondering if there is any kind of margin acceptable at all with an incredible tank like that (i.e. sps, other coral, and inhabitants in general). Also what temp / temps do you keep it at?

to be honest, i don't keep tabs on the temp. during the day. i'm sure it swings a couple degrees, but I try to keep the room temp. stable and the heater does the rest. the avg. temp in the tank is 78.

So, I've broken down the old setup and replaced it with a 40b.

The light on it was a temp at the time.
