Di

I have thought about it, but havn't done it yet.

Do you do it? There is a really good thread about it.

No, I don't. I remember reading through that thread a while ago, but I met with Mr Biggs (Steven) the other night and he has a chemistry background he was explaining how easy it is to do it. I know that DI resin is expensive so just gauging if anyone does it.

The only person in this area that does recharge is the artfuldodger.
I would recharge but I don't use DI anymore. I have a bunch of resin though.

If you want to get rid of it I would take it. Gives me the opportunity to experiment with it.

I use a Kati/Ani and recharge them. Separate beds are easy and don't take much time at all. If it is mixed bed stuff, have fun!

I'm in Littleton, CO. I've been pouring it into a 2L soda bottle. Not sure how much I have w/o taking a look at it but I think it's closer to full than empty.

I don't consume much DI resin but I think I'll only order non-mixed beds in the future because I don't think my resin is consumed proportional to the ratio it's mixed.

If I go by color change, it seems to change color very soon but if I go by TDS, I get a lot of use out of each cartridge.

I believe that when you recharge one of the resins, the other resin will float. You remove the floater to a different container. If you're lucky, you'll be able to separate most of the anion and cations.
Be careful when recharging the resins. You're using muriatic acid for one of the resins and lye for the other. Both are nasty if you aren't careful. That said, muriatic acid is used for pools and lye is from drain cleaner so it's not as bad as you might think.

Here's the thread if any one is interested.

Hey squint if sister doesnt take your old DI, I will give it a go and see how it works.

I have not heard from her so I assume I live too far away. So, the exhausted DI resin is all yours. It's not taking up much space so there's no hurry. I checked and the 2L bottle is actually pretty full. When I add the rest of the used DI, I'll probably top it off and have to get a 2nd container.

I missed your post. but yes I am definitely interested in it. I will send you a PM.

I have been recharging for a while. Works great, but please use protective equipment when using these chemicals.

Safety glasses and long protective gloves are a must as these are acids that will burn you very easily.
