diablo DC skimmers

The POV's are completely sold out and we're being told that the next shipment will not be back into the states until sometime mid to end of April.

Oh my, the POV's are even going to be way too big for what you're doing. You will need a skimmer that has a 5" body or smaller. I'd suggest looking at the following due to your size constraints and budget:

Tunze 9410 (This might be just over your space limits - 9.8" x 7")

Tunze 9006

Eshopps S-120 Cone

- This is actually a great little skimmer that a lot of people don't know about, or just don't ever look at because it's not a top brand. I've used one for a few years now and it works very well!

All of the other Octopus skimmers that would be small enough for that size tank have too large of a footprint. The same goes for Vertex and other brands as well.

I would probably try a BK Mini 160, but you're dealing with a 6" body skimmer here. The smaller reaction chamber it has from bubble plate to neck is to your benefit though. The problem is that you're trying as $960 skimmer - lot of money to play around with if you don't get the results you're after.

From a performance standpoint I feel the 9410 is your absolute best option if you can make it fit in your sump.

how is the warranty service on the e-shopps ... I have considered the BK in the past, but, pump service has always been a concern for me ...

Yes, my concern is that it's just going to be too much skimmer overall. I remember a year or so ago I had a customer put one on a 22g cube that had a 15g sump on it, but I honestly don't remember ever hearing how it went or anything.
