Diamond Goby disappeared

Added one day ago. He started digging a nest under the rockwork in my reef. I haven't seen him all day today.

Do they go into hiding under rocks indefinitely? It's only been a day, I know. I still expect to see him occasionally. I am concerned a rock shifted and crushed him.

I even check my sump/skimmer/overflow.

I had one that was only nocturnal. I believe that my Blue Throat triggers might have had something to do with that behavior...

Haha. No triggers here. A long time ago I kept a carnivore tank, but I'll never do that again.

The only other fish I have in this 90g are two tangs and a hawkfish.

I looked behind the tank to see if he took a leap. Nothing back there. He's just pulled a disappearing act.

Mine when down the overflow within the first few days. Found him in the sump and put him back into the tank. He has been fine since. This is my second. The first did a high dive on to the carpet. I got some plastic gutter screening and covered the open spaces at the top and haven't had that problem again.

He might be in my corner overflow. I have to remove the canopy to see that. I guess I'll check that more thoroughly later today.

Thoroughly checked sump, skimmer, and corner overflow. I guess this will never get solved.

He did splash the surface a few times after I put him in, so no doubt he was a leaper. But if he leaped, he must have made flight and gone out a window.

Woot! Goby just showed up!

Wow, what a surprise. I've been watching the tank day and night. My local fish shop (Coral Corral) told me he might show up later, but I did't believe it.

Tonight, my daughter pointed him out shoveling sand.

I'm really happy.

... and, he never showed up again - just that one confirmed sighting over a month ago. I don't even see any sign of his digging. Argh. At this point we are calling off the search party and giving up hope.

If I could catch mine you could have it. My GF put one in my tank and I didn't know it was in there. I hate sand sifting gobies in my tanks because of their behavior. I constantly have to clean off corals now that I keep on the sand bed.
