Diamond goby gone missing

I have noticed the sand looking a little dirty and started to think, I haven't seen my diamond goby in a couple of days. I moved all the rocks and nothing. Not even a skeleton. Now I am wondering if he wedged his self into a rock hole. I even took apart the filter and nothing. I wonder if he jumped out and the dog ate him. That dang dog eats anything from poop to bugs and toys. The only other thing I could think of, is that my bubble anemone ate him. But hard to think a 3" dia. anemone eating a 3" fish.

Does anyone have any ideas? I checked all the parameters and they look fine. So it's hard to say if died in there or not.

Do you have a top to the tank? Screen or anything?

Well DomC, I have experience the same thing a few different times and it always turn out the same. After my diamonds were missing each time, I would look all in the tank without destroying it. It always turn out after missing them for a few days finding them dried up behind the tank or on the side were I can't get to unless I move my couch. They would jump out. Also do you have a over flow? if so check there. Do you have a lid on your tank? Also if you added a new fish that might cause it to go into hidding.

did you add any new fish recently? when i introduced a tomini tang, my blue fin goby disappeared for a month...i finally discivered that he only came out during darkness. that lasted a while, but now he comes out during the daylight hours...when the tomini omes near he jets into his hole.

I was going to move the tank so I can check behind it tonight. I haven't added no new fish. Maybe a couple coral. I guess I'll have to add a screen or something.

Try not to move the tank. Use a flashlight. An undisturbed tank is a lasting tank.

I am using a canister filter, so no over flow. Just find it weird if he jumped. I just wonder if the firefish decided he didn't want to shar the same hole with the diamond. I did notice the firefish had a broke dorsal fin at the tip.

Another possibility is that the fish died in your tank and your cuc did its job. I had a firefish die on me a month ago and my clean up crew must have done its job because I upgraded the next day and there was no sign of it

Well I found him. I guess he jumped out. He was dried up behide the tank. Sucks. I guess ill be buying a screen or glass top. I just need to figure out how its going to work with my light on top.

Sorry to hear...i put a watchman in my tank saturday and he went missing sunday afternoon. I have yet to find him..
I have checked in and outside the tank with no luck..

Same happen to my diamond goby when I was away for a few days. found him on the floor. Just order screen from brs to prevent from happen again.

+1 on brs screen kit. Even comes with tools. Because I have a center brace I had to order extra corner pieces, I think the kit makes one big screen but I needed two smaller screens

Mine was missing for 14 days. Did a big clean on that tank and found him in the back sump. Got him into the front, display, part and he is super happy with a burrow right in the front of the tank. Gave the tank an extra feeding of mysis today as the poor guy looked pretty skinny.
